Claire had long since stopped waiting for Eric to come back. Eight months ago her husband simply disappeared, leaving behind debts, an empty bank card, and an eight-year-old daughter who asked every evening when Daddy would come home.
Claire couldn’t afford to feel sorry for herself. During the day she worked in a small coffee shop, and at night she danced in an expensive private club. None of her acquaintances were supposed to know about this. She did everything for her daughter’s sake, because she had no choice left.
“Mommy, are you leaving at night again?” the girl asked one day, standing by the door.
“Not for long, sweetheart. I’ll be back soon,” Claire smiled, even though everything tightened inside her. “Just don’t tell anyone. It’ll be our secret, okay?”
That evening, the club had an unusually large number of influential guests. Claire came out onto the stage and tried not to look at the hall, but almost immediately she felt someone’s heavy gaze on her.
At a separate table sat a man no one dared to disturb. His name was Sheikh Rashid Al-Mansour. He was known for his wealth, his connections, and his cold temperament, and his presence anywhere made people more cautious.
Claire finished her dance and was about to leave when his assistant appeared beside her.
“The Sheikh wants to speak with you.”
“If he wants to offer me money, tell him I’m not for sale.”
“He just wants to talk.”
Those words made her stop.
Claire approached the table. Rashid looked at her calmly, then placed a small envelope in front of her.
“I know you have a daughter. I know about the debts, and I know why you work here.”
Claire went pale.
“Who are you, and how do you know all this?”
“A man who can solve all your problems.”
“And what do you want in return?”
Rashid smiled slightly.
“You will dance only for me. No clubs, no other men. I’ll provide you with housing, security, and a future for your daughter.”
Claire looked at him with distrust.
“Why me specifically?”
The Sheikh was silent for a few seconds, as if choosing between truth and a lie.
“Because I’ve been looking for you for a very long time.”
Claire felt a chill inside.
“You knew me before?”
Rashid leaned closer and quietly said words that made Claire freeze. She was so stunned she didn’t know how to respond. Her astonishment knew no bounds, and what happened next shocked her even more. 🤯

“I know your husband very well. He worked for me,” Rashid finally said. Then he leaned back in his chair, calmly took a sip of whiskey, and continued: “But eight months ago he was given the task of carrying out a very important operation. I gave him a large sum of money and waited for his return.”
Claire looked at him, not believing her ears.
“Then why did he disappear?”
“Because he never came back. The money disappeared along with him. I still don’t know whether Eric betrayed me or whether something serious happened to him.”
Rashid admitted that he had been searching for Claire for months, because he was certain that sooner or later Eric would try to contact her. Now that he had found her, he decided not to leave her alone.
“Are you saying that my daughter and I have been in danger this whole time?”
“Yes,” Rashid replied. “And that’s exactly why I must look after you until I find Eric.”
Claire was stunned. The man she had considered the greatest threat had unexpectedly turned out to be the only one who could protect her.
A few weeks later, Rashid found a trace of Eric. But the most terrifying part was still ahead: Eric hadn’t run off with the money. His disappearance was connected to that very operation Rashid still knew nothing about.
