Her parents demanded that their pregnant daughter give her sister almost all the savings she had been setting aside for her future child, and after a cruel act by the pool, her decision shocked everyone 😱🤯😨

Sophia was used to being the one others could rely on. She worked as an accountant, paid her parents’ bills on time and never argued when her mother asked for help. Her twin sister Clara lived quite differently: their parents paid for her trips, supported her every undertaking and forgave her for things Sophia was scolded for for weeks.

— You know Clara has always been more emotional, — her mother would say when Sophia tried to explain that she needed support too. — And you’re our strong one. You’ll manage.

Sophia really did manage. Even when she found out she was expecting a daughter, she didn’t ask for help. Instead she opened a separate account and every month set aside as much as she could. She imagined how one day she would tell the girl that her future had begun even before she was born.

By the seventh month of pregnancy there were almost thirty thousand dollars in the account.

That evening the family gathered at her parents’ house to celebrate the upcoming birth of Clara’s baby. Sophia thought it was an ordinary family celebration, until her mother took her aside.

— Clara needs twenty-five thousand, — she said. — Transfer her the money today. You’re saving for the baby anyway, and she needs help now.

Sophia didn’t immediately believe what she had heard.

— That money is meant for my daughter. I won’t give it away.

Clara stood nearby, stroking her belly, although she wasn’t pregnant. She looked at her sister with an irritated smile.

— It’s always been easy for you to refuse. You have a stable job, and I’m going through a difficult period.

— You’ve received help your whole life, — Sophia answered. — I’m not obliged to give you the money I set aside for my own child.

Her mother stepped sharply toward her.

— Don’t you dare speak to your sister like that.

Sophia tried to step away, but her mother punched her in the stomach. Doubling over with pain, she lost her balance and fell into the pool. Cold water closed over her head. She frantically searched for the edge, trying to get out, while around her no one moved.

— Leave her, — her father said. — It’s her own fault. Let her get out by herself.

Clara said nothing. She only smiled.

Sophia got out of the pool on her own, got into her car and drove to the hospital. There she learned that for now the baby was fine, but the doctor insisted on observation. When the nurse left, Sophia took out her phone and dialed a number she hadn’t dared to call for many years. Looking at the closed door of the ward, she made her final decision. What she did next shocked everyone. 😨

— I’m ready, — Sophia said quietly into the phone.

The next day Mark came to the hospital, a lawyer whom her grandmother had trusted many years ago. He brought a folder of documents and explained what Sophia had long suspected: her grandmother had left her not only money for her education but also a share in the family construction company. Her parents had convinced Sophia that the inheritance had been entirely spent on her education. In fact they had registered the company in their own name, and for years had been transferring part of the income to Clara.

— I didn’t want to believe they were capable of such a thing, — Sophia said, clutching the folder.

— After yesterday you have more than documents, — Mark answered. — Your sister posted a video from the celebration. In it you can see your mother hit you and your father refuse to help.

Sophia asked the lawyer to hand the recordings and documents to the police and to begin an audit of the company’s finances. She didn’t intend to take revenge. She wanted to protect her daughter and get back what belonged to her by law.

A week later her parents and Clara came to see her at the hospital. Her mother immediately started talking about a misunderstanding, but Sophia laid copies of the documents on the table.

— You demanded money for Clara while for years you were spending my share, — she said. — And then you left me in the water.

Her father turned pale. Clara stopped smiling.

The audit confirmed forgery of documents and illegal transfers. Her parents had to answer before the law, and Clara lost the money she had grown used to counting on. Sophia restored her share and opened an account for her daughter.

For the first time she no longer tried to earn her family’s love. Now she had a family of her own — and she intended to protect it.
