She never expected to meet anyone in the forbidden royal forest, but the man behind the trees revealed a secret that shocked everyone and changed her life 😨😳😱
The duke’s daughter, Evelina, had loved the royal forest since childhood. She knew it better than most hunters: she remembered the narrow trails, the old trees, the hidden clearings, and the small river that ran far from the main road. That was exactly why she always felt nothing could threaten her there.
But there was one important thing Evelina never forgot: the forest belonged to the crown and was closed to outsiders. Entering without special permission was forbidden even to nobles.
That day, the young woman decided to break that rule.
“I just need to be alone for a while,” Evelina said, leaving her horse by the old trail. “No one will even know.”
Sometime later, she reached the river. All around her was so quiet that only the murmur of water and the rustle of leaves could be heard. Evelina carefully waded into the river and finally let herself relax.
She had no idea that someone had already been watching her from behind the trees for several minutes.
Suddenly, a loud crack of a branch sounded behind her.
Evelina spun around sharply and saw an enormous white wolf. It stood on the bank, only a few meters from the water, staring straight at her without moving.
“No… not this,” she whispered, stepping slowly backward.
The wolf took a step forward.
“Don’t move,” Evelina whispered, though she could barely hold back her own fear. “Please…”
And then a calm man’s voice came from the darkness:
“Don’t be afraid. He won’t touch you.”
Evelina flinched.
“Who’s there?! Show yourself!”
There was no answer.
“This is the royal forest!” she shouted. “Do you understand you’re breaking the law?”
“And what about you?”
Evelina fell silent.
“I’m the duke’s daughter,” she answered coldly.
“That’s exactly why you should have been more careful.”
A man slowly stepped out from behind a massive tree. He was tall, sturdily built, and looked nothing like an ordinary hunter. A dark fur cloak hung over his shoulders, and an old metal medallion hung around his neck.
Evelina looked at him and instantly went pale.
She recognized that emblem.
“Where did you get that?” she asked quietly.
The man didn’t answer.
“I asked where you got that!”
He took a few steps toward the river.
“How disappointing that you, a duchess, don’t recognize me. I’m quite hurt,” he said, almost mockingly, feigning a hollow sincerity.
The girl felt her fear give way to unease. She suddenly understood she had accidentally found herself beside a man whose existence her family had hidden for years. But that fear turned out to be almost nothing compared to her shock when the stranger explained why he had come back to a place where no one had remembered him for so long. 😨

Evelina stared at his face for a long moment, until a childhood memory surfaced. An old portrait she had once seen in her father’s study — it showed a boy wearing the very same medallion.
“Alex?” she said, barely audible.
The man smiled faintly.
“You finally recognized me.”
Evelina couldn’t believe her eyes. Alex was her half-brother — same mother, different father. Many years ago, their mother had been accused of betraying the duke and banished from the palace along with young Alex. Back then, Evelina had been told that her mother had betrayed the family and died far from the kingdom.
But it had all been a lie.
“We weren’t banished for betrayal,” Alex said coldly. “Your father wanted to get rid of our mother. And I turned out to be a reminder of a woman he hated.”
“Where is she?” Evelina whispered.
Alex lowered his eyes.
“She’s gone. But before she died, she told me the whole truth.”
He took a step closer.
“I didn’t come back for you, Evelina. I came back for her. I’m going to make your father pay for everything he did.”
The girl went pale.
“And what are you going to do?”
“I won’t hurt you. But I want you to know the truth and stand with me.”
He held out his hand to her.
Evelina looked at her brother, understanding that her old life had just collapsed. Now she had to decide who to trust: the father who had hidden the truth her whole life, or the brother who had come back for revenge.
And the white wolf quietly raised its head, as though it already knew which choice she would make.
