Because of a missing foundation, a loud scandal broke out in the house: the mother-in-law drove her daughter-in-law away, and the husband took his mother’s side and put his wife out the door: Then she did something that shocked everyone 😨😳😱
When Mia moved in with Leo, she thought they would stay at his mother’s house only for a short while. Helena assured them that the young couple needed a little time to get on their feet, and Mia agreed to help around the house while they saved for a place of their own. But a year passed, and then another, and their situation never changed. It got worse when, because of financial difficulties, Sophie, Leo’s younger sister, moved in with them. In seven months she had still not found a job and, it seemed, did not even intend to look for one or to move out. Sophie lived there for free, left a mess behind her and got irritated if she was asked even to carry her plate away after a meal.
Mia tried not to argue, although with every month it was harder for her to pretend that everything was fine. Leo usually asked her to be patient: “Sophie is just going through a difficult period.” Helena also took her daughter’s side, and Mia increasingly felt like a guest in a house where she had to cook dinner and clean up after everyone.
That evening Sophie burst into the living room, clutching an empty makeup bag.
— Who took my foundation? It was on the shelf in the bathroom, and now it’s gone, — she said, looking straight at Mia.
— I didn’t touch your things, — Mia answered. — Maybe you moved it into another bag yourself?
Sophie gave a loud smirk and turned to her mother.
— Of course. Nobody here saw anything until my things disappeared.
Mia calmly asked her not to accuse people without proof. But Sophie had already raised her voice and declared that Mia always behaved as if everything here belonged to her. Leo came into the room in the middle of the quarrel and immediately asked why his wife had again driven his sister to tears.
— She accused me of theft, — Mia explained. — Did you at least ask whether she has any proof?
Helena interrupted her and pointed at the front door.
— I’m sick of you making scandals in my house. The door is open — leave, and don’t you dare come back until you calm down.
Rain was pouring outside the windows. Leo did not stop his mother and only added that Mia should apologize to Sophie if she wanted to come back. Mia looked at her husband, but did not argue or ask to be let back in. She took her phone and dialed a lawyer’s number.
— Oliver, I’ve made up my mind for good: tomorrow the deal will go through, — she said. — Prepare the documents.

The next morning Leo woke up to a call from Helena. Mia was already sitting at the kitchen table with the lawyer Oliver and a folder of documents. When Leo came in, his mother and Sophie followed him.
— What’s going on here? — he asked, noticing the papers.
— The house is being sold today, — Mia answered calmly.
Helena laughed, but the laughter quickly broke off when Oliver laid a copy of the property deed in front of her. The document bore Mia’s name.
Leo turned pale. A few years earlier his business had been on the verge of collapse, and a large debt had hung over the house. Mia had then put her savings into it to pay off the arrears. Leo himself had suggested transferring the house to her — he had assured her that it would be easier to protect the home that way and give it all back later. But the house had remained registered in Mia’s name.
— You can’t just throw us out on the street! — Helena said indignantly.
— I’m not going to leave you without a roof, — Mia answered. — I put off the decision for a long time because I hoped we would become a family again. But yesterday you showed that to you I’m a stranger.
Sophie looked at her brother, expecting him to step in. Leo was silent. Then she said sharply:
— So all this time you could have thrown us out and you were just pretending to be kind?
— I helped pay off the debt because I loved Leo and wanted to keep our home, — said Mia. — And you took my kindness for an obligation to wait on you.
Oliver explained that the buyer had already signed the contract and that the deal would go through that same day. Mia had planned to put part of the money into a small separate house for Helena and Sophie. The second — to buy for herself and Leo, if he still wanted to be with her. But after yesterday Mia changed her decision: the second house she was keeping only for herself.
— But you said we’d manage together, — Leo said quietly.
— I said that while I believed you would stand beside me, — she answered. — But you chose to stay silent when I was being put out in the rain.
Helena did not accept the help offered. She took Sophie and left, angrily repeating that Mia had destroyed the family. Leo stayed by the door, but Mia did not ask him to change his mind and did not cancel the deal.
A few weeks later she moved into the new house. Leo never followed her. For the first time Mia stopped rescuing everyone around her and chose a life in which she did not have to prove that she deserved respect.
