After her husband’s death, 72-year-old Evelyn couldn’t get used to the silence in the house for a long time. Evelyn looked at her daughter, then at the bank card in her hand.
“No. I won’t put up with this anymore.”
Natalie smirked and took the card from her hand.
“Then you don’t need to come home anymore. I thought we were family and were supposed to help each other, but you’re acting selfish.”
She walked away, leaving her mother alone in the middle of the store.
Evelyn stood there for a few seconds, then quietly walked outside. Natalie didn’t yet know that by morning she would have to learn the truth that Evelyn had kept hidden even from her. But Evelyn had refused.

Now, for the first time, she called him herself.

A few hours later, her brother came to see her and, after hearing everything, didn’t blame her.

Evelyn only nodded.
“Then you won’t have to ask her for anything ever again.”
Richard helped his sister get her own place, provided her with the money she needed, and made sure she would never have to depend on her daughter again.
But the biggest shock for Natalie was something else.
Evelyn changed her will.
Everything she had planned to leave to her daughter now went to her brother and to charity instead. Natalie could no longer count on either her mother’s money or her help.
When her daughter found out about it, she called Evelyn.
