The police dog did not move away from the entrance of the ward until he forced the police officer who had arrived with him to open the door, and after the door was opened and they saw what was inside, everyone froze in shock.
It was around three in the morning when the police received a call: loud noises and suspicious screams were heard from an apartment on the outskirts of the city.
Neighbors reported that a young woman was calling for help, and then suddenly everything went silent. Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene together with an experienced K9 service dog — a German Shepherd named Rex.
When the police arrived at the apartment, everything inside was turned upside down. On the floor there were shards of glass and small traces of blood, but no people were there. Only a child’s toy and a hospital wristband with the name of the city central hospital were found near the window.
Rex began sniffing the room, then suddenly pulled hard on the leash and ran outside. The police immediately understood: the dog had picked up a scent.
A few minutes later, they were already at the hospital. Doctors reported that a man in critical condition had been admitted shortly before, but no one knew whether he was connected to the incident. But as soon as they entered the hospital corridor, Rex’s behavior changed.
He quickly passed the rooms, then suddenly stopped in front of a closed door at the end of the hallway.
Rex began jumping nervously, barking loudly, and scratching at the door with his paws. He refused to move away. The officer tried to pull him back, but the dog kept rushing back to the door, as if desperately trying to say:
— “Open the door… something is wrong inside.”
The nurses looked at each other in confusion. That room was supposed to be empty — no patient was registered there.
Finally, the officer grabbed the handle and slowly opened the door.
And at that moment, everyone standing in the corridor froze in shock at what they saw inside.
The continuation can be seen in the first comment. 👇👇👇
Inside the room, in dim light, a girl about ten years old was sitting next to the bed. Her hands were tied with a bedsheet, and her mouth was taped with gauze. The girl was crying in fear. Next to her stood the same man who had shortly before been presented by emergency staff as an “injured person.”
But the most terrifying thing was that the man was not only pretending to be sick in order to escape. In reality, he was trying to hide inside the hospital while holding the girl hostage so that the police would not suspect him.
The man froze in shock when he saw Rex at the door. The K9 service dog barked furiously and was ready to lunge at him if he made even a single step toward the girl.
The police subdued him within seconds.
It was later revealed that the girl was the daughter of the woman whose screams the neighbors had heard. The mother had managed to secretly call the police while the man was threatening her. And Rex, following a faint scent trail from the apartment, had led the officers directly to that locked hospital room.
Since that day, everyone in the hospital spoke about only one thing: if Rex had not refused to leave that door, perhaps no one would ever have discovered what was really happening inside.
