The police, suspecting a woman, arrested her, but when she introduced herself and explained who she really was, everyone froze in shock.
For several days, the city police had been searching for a dangerous financial fraudster who had embezzled millions of dollars from government programs using fake documents.
Witnesses said that the suspect often appeared in a black car and constantly changed their appearance. That day, the police received a report that a similar vehicle had been seen in the city center.
When patrol cars surrounded the area, the officers noticed a woman getting out of that exact car. She looked very nervous, and the officers were convinced that they had finally found the long-sought criminal. 😨😨
Without lengthy explanations, they approached the woman, grabbed her hands, and put handcuffs on her.
People on the street immediately started filming the scene. Some went live on social media, others shouted that the police were treating the woman too harshly. But the police listened to no one — they were trying to get the woman into the car as quickly as possible and take her to the station.
At that moment, the woman said in a loud and confident voice:
— “Do you even know who you are arresting?”
Everyone fell silent for a moment, but the police continued their actions. And it was precisely at that moment that the woman introduced herself and revealed who she really was, after which everyone present stood in complete shock.
The continuation can be seen in the first comment. 👇👇👇
It turned out that she was one of the main judges of the city’s federal court and had been working in that system for over twenty years. As soon as her name was mentioned, the people on the street literally froze.
One of the officers even involuntarily stepped back after recognizing her from numerous court hearings.
The atmosphere changed instantly. Just a few minutes earlier, confident and strict officers were now looking at each other in confusion.
The woman demanded that her handcuffs be removed immediately and that the head of the department be called to the scene.
A few minutes later, the truth was revealed. The real criminal had been only two blocks away the entire time, in a hotel, preparing to leave the city.
The police had simply mistaken the car and arrested the wrong person.
However, the judge did not allow the incident to be simply forgotten. She demanded an internal investigation into the officers’ actions.
Later, she officially filed a lawsuit for unlawful arrest and professional negligence.
Several officers were temporarily suspended from duty, and the department had to issue a public apology.
But the most surprising part was that the judge, despite everything, did not demand a harsh punishment, but instead required mandatory additional training for all officers, so that such a mistake would never happen again to innocent people.
