A woman left the house in the morning and returned a few hours later, but when she reached the threshold and heard strange noises from inside, she opened the door, and what she saw inside shocked her.
The woman woke up early, lit a fire in the fireplace, made sure the house was warm, and then, putting on her dark coat, stepped out into the snow-covered yard. This time, her path was unusual.
She decided to go far — deep into the forest, where a few days earlier she had accidentally discovered an old, forgotten wooden box. This box had been bothering her. She felt there was something important inside.
The path was difficult: the snow reached her knees, but she moved forward stubbornly. Upon reaching the spot, she dug through the snow for a long time and finally pulled out the box. When she opened it, she found old letters and a small mechanical device resembling a clock, which ticked slowly.

Inside the house, there was complete chaos. The cabinets were open, things were scattered across the floor, and in the center of the room, a man was hastily searching for something, not noticing that the owner had already returned.
The woman paused for a moment, but this time she did not panic. Her gaze became firm, her breathing steady. She slowly closed the door to avoid making noise and moved forward cautiously.
Not far away, on a table, stood a heavy bronze statuette. The woman picked it up, gripping it tightly in her hand, and waited a few seconds, choosing the right moment.
When the thief bent down to pick up the bag from the floor, the woman quickly approached and struck him hard on the head.
The man didn’t even understand — he immediately fell to the floor and stopped moving.
The woman’s heart was pounding wildly, but she did not lose her composure. She quickly took her phone and called the police, explaining the situation briefly and clearly.
A few minutes later, the sound of a car was heard at the door.
The police entered the house, assessed the situation, and approached the thief. One of them checked his condition, the other put on handcuffs.
