My mother-in-law threw me to the floor and poured dirty water on me, but at that moment my husband walked in. Seeing all of this, he did something that even shocked me on the spot.
I was pregnant, and it seemed like the house should be filled with happiness… but in our home, there hadn’t been room for happiness for a long time. Every day, there was tension between me and my mother-in-law.
She didn’t accept me. She said I was “not the right girl” for her son, that I was too “weak,” that I couldn’t be a good mother. And the most painful thing — she was convinced that I was deliberately trying to distance her son from her, since we had plans to live separately.
My husband tried to remain neutral… he always said, “We’ll get through this,” but in reality, things got worse with each passing day.
That day started as usual. I was in the kitchen, cleaning. Because of the pregnancy, I got tired quickly, but I wanted to get everything in order. My mother-in-law came in with a bucket in her hand. I turned to grab a towel and accidentally touched her hand.
The bucket tipped, and a little water spilled on the floor. 😥😥
For a moment, there was silence. But that silence was terrifying.
— You did this on purpose, didn’t you?.. — her voice was soft but full of hate.
— No… it was an accident… — I hadn’t finished my sentence when she pushed me, and I fell to the floor.
I lost my balance, and a sharp pain shot through my back… my hand instinctively went to my belly.
The next second, she grabbed the bucket and poured all the dirty water on me.
— Damn girl… you’ll ruin everything… — she screamed, cursed, and I just lay on the floor — wet, trembling, and helpless.
And at that moment, the door opened — my husband walked in. Seeing all of this, what he did to his mother even shocked me…

He walked over… not to me, but to his mother.
— You’ve crossed all the lines, — he said in a cold and unfamiliar voice.
My mother-in-law started to defend herself, but he didn’t listen. He took the bucket from her hands… went to the sink… filled it with clean water… came back… and silently… poured that water over his mother.
I was in shock.
He looked her in the eyes and said:
— Felt what it’s like… when you’re humiliated? This is what you did to my wife.
My mother-in-law couldn’t say a word.
Then he turned, knelt down next to me, and carefully helped me stand up.
— We’re leaving here. Now.
That day we left that house.
And for the first time in a long time… I felt safe.
