A few days passed, and the children suggested to the parents that they go somewhere in the evening and have dinner. But of course, after such a suggestion, the parents immediately felt that something was not right.
Just a few days earlier, they had heard complaints that there wasn’t even money for medicines, and now suddenly — dinner at a restaurant?
But despite everything, the elderly parents agreed and decided to go in the evening to the place the children had suggested. However, this evening would leave even more painful memories.
Outside, it was snowing heavily, and they drove along a strange road that didn’t at all resemble the way to a restaurant.
After another ten minutes, the son stopped the car in the middle of a deserted road. He helped the parents out of the car and said:
— “We can no longer take care of you. From this moment on, you are the masters of your own fate,” said the son, got back into the car, left the parents in the bitter cold, and drove away.
The parents did not object — they had already come to terms with the thought. But when they looked toward the car, which had not yet gone far, they saw a horrifying scene that left them speechless.

The parents stood motionless by the roadside, trying to figure out which direction to go, when they noticed the children’s car suddenly slowing down. The headlights flickered, then the vehicle abruptly slid toward an icy ravine.
It seemed the driver had lost control. The car stopped only a few centimeters from the edge, while large chunks of snow slid down from under the wheels.
The son got out, inspected the windshield, and tried to start the engine again, but it made only a short, worrying grinding noise. The daughter called someone, but the connection was lost — the mobile network in this area was always unstable. The wind increased, and the temperature dropped rapidly.
The elderly parents, still standing at the roadside, understood that help could come too late in such a place. At that moment, the father opened a small bag and took out a thick, sealed envelope they had been carrying for a long time.
Inside were documents proving they owned land in the area, as well as a contract for its upcoming sale — and the amount was considerable.
The road the children had brought them on led directly to this land. And the car had stopped right at the entrance — next to a barely visible sign that the children probably hadn’t even noticed.
When the children discovered the truth, they immediately tried to restore their relationship with the parents, pretending it had all been a joke, a test. But the parents did not believe this lie and realized that they were being deceived once again.
They chased the children off the property, telling them to forget the way to this house and live as unworthy children do.
And the parents remained alone and enjoyed their deep old age.
