I was the happiest man in the world until, in one moment, a homeless child approached me, pointed at my necklace, and whispered three words that shocked me.
That evening, I was sitting on the terrace of one of the best cafés in the city, enjoying a cup of tea, when suddenly, from a distance, a homeless child walked up to me, pointed at the pendant on my neck, and began to cry.
My wife had died a few months earlier in a car accident, and my precious pendant was the last memory I had of her.
After her death, I took the pendant to a craftsman and paid him to place my wife’s photograph in the center of it, so I could always keep her close to my heart.
— What happened? — I asked. 😥😥
The child, sobbing, looked at the photo and said that the woman in the picture was at the end of the street. I stared at the child for a moment, trying to understand how he could say something like that.
It seemed impossible, inconsistent with reality, but the child repeated the same phrase and led me to the end of the street so I could see my wife myself.
My heart nearly stopped, and although I didn’t believe the child’s words, something inside me shifted. As we walked, my thoughts grew heavier and heavier.
When we reached the end of the street and I saw the woman the child was pointing at, my gaze froze in shock.

I froze on the spot, unable to believe my eyes. The woman was standing in the shadow of the wall, slightly leaning forward as if trying to hide something. Her face was astonishingly familiar — the same features, the same eyes I had seen in my thoughts every day since her death.
— Elena? — I whispered, not daring to take a step forward.
She lifted her gaze, and that moment felt like an eternity. In her eyes was a mixed light of surprise, fear, and… recognition. She was silent, but her eyes spoke more than words.
The woman walked toward me, and I realized how much she resembled my wife — as if they were twins in appearance.
At first, she didn’t understand what was happening, but after hearing my explanation of why I was there and looking at my pendant, she too noticed the resemblance between herself and my wife.
The situation became clear, and for a moment I looked down the street, realizing that it had all been just a misunderstanding.
