A wealthy man opened the door of his house with unusual silence to see his child, but what he saw instead shocked him.

After a long day at work, he expected to see his only son — as usual, sitting alone at the table. However, the scene coming from the living room stopped him at the threshold.

Four children were sitting at the table. His son — in the center, and next to him three other boys, so alike that they seemed like twins.😨😨

The same gaze, the same movements, the same posture during prayer — hands folded, heads bowed. The man looked confused at the maid, who was setting plates on the table with yellow gloves.

When it became clear who these “twins” really were, the man was in complete horror.

He slowly entered the room, and the floorboards creaked treacherously under his steps. The children raised their eyes simultaneously — as if on command.

At that moment, the man noticed another detail that sent a chill through him: all three of the stranger boys had the same thin scars above their eyebrows. Exactly the same as his son.

The maid placed the last plate on the table. It was simple, almost tasteless food — the kind usually prepared for the staff, not for the homeowners.

The man clenched his fists. But instead of yelling or scolding, he did something no one expected.

He walked to the fireplace, took the large family portrait off the wall, and placed it with a dull thud facing the wall. Then he returned to the table, knelt beside the children, and quietly but firmly said:

— Stop praying.

The children froze. The maid turned pale.

— Today, — he continued, — we will speak the truth.

He turned to the woman:
— How long have you been hiding this from me?

The maid could not meet his gaze and sank onto a chair.

— I didn’t want to… I was afraid. They… they are brothers. All four of them.

The room became so quiet that you could hear the water dripping from the faucet. The man took a slow breath. His world, built on status, money, and confidence in his own control, collapsed in a single evening.

He stood up, straightened, and suddenly smiled — tired, but sincere.
— So I’m not late to home, — he said. — I’m late to the family.

He snapped his fingers:
— Tomorrow another table will be set here. And none of my children will ever eat with the gloves of someone else’s shame again.

And at that moment, the children smiled for the first time differently — each in their own way.
