Two weeks before the wedding, it seemed to Elise that her life had finally turned out exactly as she’d dreamed. “Everything will be fine. She’ll never find out anything. We’ll pin it all on some jealous fan, and that’ll be that. To everyone, I’ll be the loving groom worried sick about his future wife.”

Mark also told her about Clara. Adrian hadn’t planned to marry Elise just for appearances. He wanted to keep up the image of the perfect man while at the same time continuing his relationship with his mistress, all while keeping his entire life under control.
