Just seven days ago, Elena put on a white dress and thought she had finally found someone who would share all of life’s hardships with her. Daniel had seemed like a caring, calm man, and his parents had smilingly assured her that after the wedding she would become like family to them. But no sooner had the wedding guests left than their attitude began to change.
“You’re my son’s wife now, so you need to learn to obey him,” her mother-in-law said coldly one evening. “And don’t forget, your money should also help the family.”
At first, Elena thought all this was temporary. She kept enduring the remarks, the demands, and the constant humiliation, hoping her husband would one day stand up for her. But Daniel only stayed silent each time.
